Sullivan County Extension is hosting a Show Stock Clinic for 4-H and FFA livestock exhibitors, and their parents, next month, to learn from experts in the field and gain hands-on experience. The clinic is open to all livestock exhibitors. It will cover beef, market goats, market lambs and market hogs.

Participants will learn about selection, handling, feeding, grooming, exhibiting and health care of their animals. Experts on each species will give short presentations and offer hands-on information. There will be live animals at the clinic; do not bring your own. Representatives from various feed companies will offer nutritional advice and products. A veterinarian will talk to the exhibitors about health concerns and treatments of their animals.

Penny Kittle, University of Missouri Extension 4-H Youth Program Assistant, says the May 5th clinic will be geared towards beginner and intermediate level exhibitors, giving the information they need to succeed in their project.

The Show Stock Clinic will be from 9 am to 4 pm at the Sullivan County Expo Center and Fairgrounds at Milan. Beef and Swine sessions will be in the morning. Sheep and Goats will follow in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided for participants along with a drawing for door prizes.
