The University of Missouri Extension will offer a class at various locations to help owners of farms and small businesses create a plan for transferring a farm or business to the next generation and address issues with estate and retirement planning.

Your Farm, Your Business, Your Future will be held at the Harrison County Extension Center in the basement of the courthouse in Bethany, the Chariton County Courthouse Blue Room in Keytesville, Forage Systems Research Farm of Linneus, and the Schuyler County Courthouse Basement Assembly Room in Lancaster the evenings of February 4th, 11th, and 18th from 6 to 9 o’clock.

A team of Extension specialists with education experience and technical backgrounds and a Missouri probate judge will cover topics such as setting goals, assessing a farm’s or business’s strengths and weaknesses, the probate process in Missouri, estate planning tools, and calculating retirement needs.

Agriculture Business Specialist Joe Koenen will be one of the instructors who has more than 37 years of experience in succession planning.

The program will cost $110 per individual plus $50 for each additional person from the same business with one set of materials. The cost includes a handbook with case study examples as well as forms for planning, developing financial statements, and record keeping. A light dinner will be provided each evening.

Preregistration is required by February 3rd at noon for classes on February 4th, 11th, and 18th. Contact Agriculture Business Specialist Joe Koenen for more information on Your Farm, Your Business, Your Future at 660-947-2705.
