Nearly 150 third through fifth-grade students from six schools in Linn and Livingston counties attended the Second Farm Safety Day at the Forage Systems Research Center in Linneus this week.

Students went on a 10-stop tour that provided them information about farm, ATV, electrical, tractor, and water and boat safety as well as first aid and how to spot poison ivy.

Students got up-close looks at safety equipment involved while someone runs a chainsaw, learned about the weather station at the Forage Systems Research Center and how severe weather can come at any moment, learned the importance of paying attention around grain bins, and were able to look at a fire truck.

The Forage Systems Research Center provided each student, teacher, and speaker with a t-shirt and lunch.

Earley Tractor of Cameron, Sydenstricker of Chillicothe, New Cambria Livestock Market, MFA of Brookfield, AgriServices of Brunswick, and AgLand of Brookfield sponsored the Farm Safety Day.
