The Trenton Police Department reports that Thursday’s testing of the outdoor storm siren system was to test its functionality and all of the sirens are in working order.

The department notes the sirens can sometimes be heard indoors, but they are not intended to be heard indoors or meant to be the only line of defense in the event of dangerous weather. The sirens are meant to warn anyone outdoors.

The police suggest several methods of staying safe including weather radio, television, and radio broadcasts, and signing up for the Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri Community Connections Phone Notification System.
