St. Joseph man dies in crash on I-70

A 60-year-old St. Joseph, Missouri, man was killed Saturday evening in a crash on Interstate 70 in Saline County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Larry Pierce was driving east near the 79-mile marker when his 1998 Ford Ranger went off the road, down an embankment, hit a tree coming to rest on its side.

Pierce, the only person in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said he was wearing a seat belt.
