Spickard school board meets, administers oath to new members

Among information from the meeting of the Spickard R-2 board of education, four persons took the oath of office to serve on the school board:

Nancy Anderson, Jesse Richmond, Glenn Wilson and Ginger Youngs. Officers will be Ginger Youngs as President, Ruth Ann Shipps is Vice President, Jesse Richmond is Treasurer, and Kate Eads is the Board-Secretary.

A bid on the gymnasium ceiling was accepted from Quality General Construction of Spickard in the amount of 92 hundred dollars.

Membership renewal was approved with the Missouri school boards association for the 2016-17 school year. Spickard plans to will continue the community eligibility provision which gives students lunch and breakfast at no cost in the 2016-17 school year.

Employment was offered for the next school year to Jackie White as a paraprofessional; Kate Eads as Book Keeper; Amy Chapman as head cook; and Jenifer Roberts for parents as teachers. Patty Stark was offered a contract as Special Education Director for Spickard.

Upcoming activities include K-2 field trip to the Kansas City Zoo May 3rd; 3rd to 6th field trip to Union Station in Kansas City on May 13th. Other dates at Spickard include May 7- Alumni Banquet 5:30 pm; May 10 – Spring concert/Science Fair 7 pm; May 17- Awards Ceremony – Sports Awards 11 am May 17 – Graduation 7:00 pm; and May 18 – Awards Ceremony – 12 noon.

Randall has been with KTTN/KGOZ for almost 20 years. He is the current Engineer for all of the stations, as well as working "on-air" from 6 to 10, am in the morning.
