Six-year-old airlifted to hospital after falling from ATV

A six-year-old boy sustained serious injuries after falling from a moving vehicle on Mexico Road in Perry, Missouri. The incident occurred at approximately 3:26 p.m. on July 3, 2024.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, John E. Woodhurst, 33, of Perry, Missouri, was driving a 2019 Polaris Ranger northbound on Mexico Road. The juvenile passenger exited the moving vehicle and impacted the ground. The boy was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Emergency services, including the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office and Perry Police Department, responded to the scene. Survival Flight transported the injured boy to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

Woodhurst was not injured in the incident and his vehicle sustained no damage.

The Polaris Ranger was removed from the scene by the owner.
