A 23-year-old man from Sedalia, Missouri, sustained serious injuries in a crash involving a 2017 Mack tractor-trailer early Wednesday morning on southbound Interstate 35, three miles north of Bethany, Missouri.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 12:13 a.m. when the 2017 Mack tractor-trailer, driven by Nicholas C. Anders, 23, veered off the west side of the roadway. The truck struck a guardrail, a concrete barrier, and a bridge pillar before coming to rest on its wheels, facing south.
Anders was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He suffered serious injuries and was initially transported by NTA Ambulance to Cameron Regional Medical Center. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred by Cameron Ambulance to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, for further treatment.
The tractor-trailer was totaled in the accident and was towed from the scene by Young’s Towing of Eagleville. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Trooper T.B. Heintz, Trooper J.M. Tanner, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Harrison County Fire Department, NTA Ambulance, and Bethany Police Department.
