The Salvation Army of Chillicothe will begin its Red Kettle Campaign in November to fund its operations and help those in the community throughout the year.

Donations will be accepted November 16th through Christmas Eve at five area locations.

The red kettles will be at the Shopko and Hy-Vee in Trenton as well as at both doors at Walmart, Hy-Vee, and the Sliced Bread Market in Chillicothe. Lieutenant Shannon Forney says volunteers are needed to ring bells at each location from 10 o’clock in the morning to 6 o’clock in the evening each day during the campaign period. Volunteers can include school clubs, service organizations, businesses, families, or individuals.

Forney says it is important for groups and individuals to volunteer because no one donates if a kettle is “unmanned”. She asks that volunteers under the age of 16 be accompanied by an adult.

Planning for the campaign started in August, and reports are finished in February.  Anyone wanting to volunteer to ring bells can sign up by calling the Salvation Army of Chillicothe at 660-646-3538.
