The Highway Patrol reports a Saint Joseph man sustained minor injuries when the car he drove overturned after a tractor-trailer truck struck it one mile west of Stewartsville Friday afternoon.
Fifty-year-old Amanda Twitchell of Fernley, Nevada attempted to change lanes on westbound U. S. Highway 36 when the truck she drove struck the westbound car, driven by 30-year-old Shawn Brown of Saint Joseph. The car then ran off the road before overturning multiple times and coming to rest in the center median on its wheels. The vehicle was totaled. The truck came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder and had minor damage.
An ambulance transported Brown to Mosaic Life Care of Saint Joseph. Twitchell did not sustain any injuries, and both drivers wore safety devices at the time of the accident.
The DeKalb First Responders and Stewartsville Fire Department assisted at the scene of the crash.
