The Professional Leaders Uniting Grundy County (PLUG) hosted a kickoff banquet for this year’s Youth Leadership Trenton Program Tuesday.

Cara McClellan and Ralph Boots welcomed families of the participants.

Former Trenton resident and adult Leadership Trenton 2011 alum Matt Osterthun of Columbia spoke to the participants on how the community helped mold him into the person he is today.

Osterthun told the participants how the program will help them grow as individuals and leaders.

Phil Ray of Trenton also talked to the group about activities and sessions coming up, including resume building, local business and industry tours, public speaking, banking and credit information, and mock interviews.

Next week’s session will involve a team building event at Breakout KC.

Students participating in Youth Leadership Trenton are Carson Burchett, Emma Gilham, Carly Taul, Trinity Gaunt, Arianna Overton, Samantha Milhalovich, Tanner Franklin, Sydney Evans, Mary McNabb, River Reiter, and Kasie Otto.

PLUG is accepting sponsorships to cover costs of the program.

Call PLUG secretary Jessie Tabbert at 660-359-2013 if you are interested in sponsoring Youth Leadership Trenton.
