Polo woman killed in drunken ATV accident

A Polo woman was fatally injured late Saturday night in northwestern Ray County when she, as a pedestrian, was hit by an all terrain vehicle.

Twenty two year-old Megan Lamarr of Polo was flown by medical helicopter to Truman Medical Center where she died three and one half hours after the accident.

The accident happened on Route BB northwest of Knoxville.

Ms. Lamarr, who was a pedestrian, was hit by a northbound ATV driven by 22-year-old Michael Childs of Polo.

Childs was not reported hurt, and was accused by the patrol of involuntary manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident, no proof of insurance, and failure to register a motor vehicle.

The ATV sustained minor damage. Child’s was wearing a safety equipment.
