Grundy County’s election authority reports the polling location in Galt will be closed for the April 7th election because there would only be 23 voters eligible to cast a ballot at the Galt precinct.

The polling site at Galt Baptist Church is used by residents of Liberty and Myers township, and that will be the case for the March 10th presidential primary election.

County Clerk Betty Spickard encourages patrons of the Trenton R-9 and Spickard R-2 school districts who would normally vote at Galt for the spring election to instead, come to the clerks’ office at the Grundy County Courthouse and vote an absentee ballot.

Mrs. Spickard explained there are 14 registered voters who live in the Spickard R-2 School District and 9 registered voters who reside within the Trenton R-9 School District who would cast votes for the school board positions. These would be the only issues for the Galt voting precinct.

Absentee voting for the April election will get underway this week. Voters affected by the change involving the Galt precinct were to have received a letter. If any questions, contact Betty Spickard’s office by calling 359-4040, extension 4.
