It’s been announced $1,110 was raised from the poker run Saturday to benefit the Trenton Police Department’s “Shop with a Cop” program.

The poker run was sponsored by Chumbley’s Bar and Grill of Trenton with approximately fifteen participants taking part during hot and humid weather conditions. The participant coming the farthest to participate came from Mound City, Kansas.

The best poker hand belonged to Chad Richardson. The worst poker hand belonged to Stacey Gareis. And the 50-50 raffle was won by Paula Murphy.

Organizers report each of them donated all of their winnings back to the project.

Many volunteers and businesses were thanked for their assistance and / or contributions.

Shop with a cop involves Trenton police officers spending time with children in foster care at Christmas time, and providing those children with money for spending on christmas gifts.

It’s also noted that next years’ benefit poker run will be moved to a date in the fall of 2017 to avoid the heat, and promote more participation.
