The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education started its meeting Tuesday evening with a start date hearing.
Requests were made to set the start date for after the end of the Missouri State Fair.
During the regular meeting, the board approved the 2017-2018 school calendar with the start date to be August 23rd.
The board also approved a field trip request for the fifth grade to attend the Water Festival at Baron Campus April 5th.
The board reviewed a bid specification sheet in regard to the remodeling of the third, fourth, and fifth-grade classrooms.
A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be at school the evening of March 28th at 5 o’clock with bids due by April 11th at noon.
In a closed session, the board approved the hiring of Hayley Anderson of Trenton as the fourth-grade teacher and Holly Meek of Trenton as the third-grade teacher for next school year.
The board also approved the transfer of third and fourth-grade teacher Heather Olmstead to kindergarten and to amend Abbie Herrold’s schedule by allowing an additional day of physical education and health next school year.
All evaluated teachers were offered contracts with special education and speech implementor Jamie Whitney and Title 1 and reading recovery teacher Kaley Williams offered tenure.
