Pesticide collection event to be held in Chillicothe

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is collecting unwanted or unused pesticides from farmers and households in the area July 15th.

The Missouri Pesticide Collection Event is Saturday, July 15th, from 8:00 am to Noon and will be held at the Litton Ag Center near Chillicothe.

They will accept all pesticides including herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides, dewormers, fly tags and fertilizer containing pesticides. Items not being accepted at the collection are paint, explosives, fire extinguishers, yard waste, electronics, and trash. The state reports businesses are not eligible to participate.

In the past five years, the Department of Natural Resources has collected more than 126 tons of unwanted pesticides through their Missouri Pesticide Collection Program.

Chillicothe is among six locations this year for the DNR to host a pesticide collection event.
