The Penney High School Hornets met the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers in a Class 2 boys sectional contest on Wednesday night at Staley High School in Kansas City.  The game turned into a roller-coaster ride of momentum, with the Hornets struggling in the first half, trailing 36-21 at the break, rallying in the second half to take a 48-45 lead with just under five minutes to go, but slumping again late, as the Tigers took the 63-51 win.

Wellington-Napoleon, after falling behind by three points, went on a decisive 14-0 run, to close out the Hornets comeback efforts in the game.  Dallas Reynolds paced W-N with 23 points, while Duncan Hughes had 21, and Tristan Green 14 points.   The Tigers advance to play Skyline on Saturday afternoon at 2:45 in the state quarterfinals at Lee’s Summit High School.

Hamilton, playing without senior center Telly Harper, had 23 points from Jaran Richman, 20 from LaTroy Harper, and 11 for Mason McFall.  Telly Harper missed the game as a result of an ejection from Hamilton’s district championship game from last Saturday.
