The Highway Patrol reports accidents in Caldwell and Daviess counties occurred slightly after noon Sunday.

Fourteen-year-old Dylan Nienhaus of Wentzville sustained what the Patrol called moderate injuries when he lost control of a motor scooter 11 miles east of Steelville on Butts Road.

He reportedly attempted to accelerate over a bump before losing control and hitting a parked vehicle.

A private vehicle transported Nienhause to the hospital and the patrol reports he wore a safety device at the time of the accident.

Twenty-one year old Elizabeth Clawson of Gallatin sustained what the Patrol called minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident about five miles west of Winston.

Clawson traveled west on U.S. 69 when a minivan driven by 47-year-old Annette Nelson of Johnston, Iowa attempted to make a right turn from eastbound U. S. 69 and crossed the center line. Clawson’s minivan struck Nelson’s front right passenger door.

Both vehicles came to rest on the north side of the road on the on ramp to Interstate 35 North.

EMS transported Clawson to Cameron Regional Medical Center.

The Patrol reports both drivers wore seat belts at the time of the accident.
