The North Mercer R-3 Board of Education extended contracts Thursday evening for Superintendent Dan Owens and Prekindergarten through 12th Grade Principal Wes Guilkey. Guilkey reports both contracts are now through the 2021-2022 school year. The salary has yet to be determined.

Paraprofessional Anna DeMoss’s resignation was accepted. The board discussed makeup day procedures. North Mercer has had seven missed days. The final day for this school year is now scheduled for May 15th. Guilkey notes the last day of school was originally scheduled for May 8th. He says one day has been made up already, one will be made up President’s Day, and the others will be made up with an extra week.

Five policy updates were approved. CBD products have been added to the prohibited Use of Tobacco, Alcohol, and Drugs policy. Narcan will be on the premises and can be administered by trained staff members.

Owens began a discussion on the 2020-2021 budget preparation and things to be considered, but no action was taken.

The dance team will perform at the Show Me Show Down Basketball Tournament on March 13th.
