Newtown-Harris Board of Education considers after school program

An after school program is being considered in the Newtown-Harris school district.

Ten students need to participate each day in order to make the program financially feasible. The board is expected to know within two weeks whether to Implement the program.

The district says a comprehensive school improvement committee is being created which is to meet the night of October 25th at 6:30.

The gymnasium floor at Newtown-Harris is to be painted October 21st with the parent-teacher organization purchasing a new tigers wall mat.

The board is considering the replacement of the central air-conditioning unit at the pre-school with a bid schedule being considered for this coming Spring.

The district is the recipient of 12 computers which are three years old and have been received from the natural resources conservation service.

Upcoming events include parent-teacher conferences the afternoon of October 20th from 2 until 6 o’clock, a Parent-teacher organization carnival the evening of October 29th at 5 o’clock, a veterans day assembly the morning of November 11th at 10 o’clock, and a Christmas program the night of December 13th at 7 o’clock.

A grandparent’s day is being moved to this coming Spring.
