North Central Missouri College received a five-year grant, which will allow the college to continue to provide services under the Federal TriO Upward Bound program.

The funding will assist qualifying high school students to prepare and enter postsecondary education.

TriO Director Marcie Cutsinger says the funding will allow NCMC to continue to serve current students and to assist new participants in the process of earning a college degree.

The U. S. Department of Education funds the million dollar grant.

The Upward Bound program helps first-generation, income eligible, those with a high academic need succeed in high school and to college enrollment with successful completion.

The program’s objectives are to improve grade point average and end of course exam scores, complete a rigorous high school program of study, and enroll and complete a postsecondary education.

Upward Bound has been on the NCMC campus for 18 years, and it serves students from Trenton, Jamesport, Hamilton, Gallatin, Chillicothe, and Galt school districts.
