The North Central Missouri College Pirates played poorly in Game #1, losing 16-0 in five innings at Region 16 rival St. Charles, but pitched and fielded much better in the second game, salvaging a split of their doubleheader with a 6-2 victory.

In the opener, Gordon Arthaud took the loss for the Pirates. He allowed 13 runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out four.

St. Charles CC, after taking a 1-0 lead after 1 inning, put the game away with four runs in the second, while piling on eight more runs in the bottom of the third.

In the second game, an ace performance by Anferney Hoeve lifted the NCMC Pirates to a 6-2 win over St. Charles.

St. Charles managed just one hit off of Hoeve, who allowed one earned run, walked three and struck out seven during his eight innings of work.

Hoeve lost his no-hit bid in the seventh inning on a SCCC single.

Zach Lehmann racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Pirates. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the ninth inning.

NCMC never surrendered the lead after the second inning, scoring three runs on two singles to rally from an early 2-0 hole to grab a 3-2 advantage.

The Pirates built upon their lead with two runs in the eighth. A single by Landon Figg ignited the offense, scoring Dennis Pogue. That was followed up by Jared Corbett‘s double, bringing home Figg.
