NCMC Lady Pirates beat Wentworth, advance to region semifinal vs. St. Louis

The North Central Missouri College women's basketball team will get a chance to knock off #1 seed St. Louis Community College, playing the Archers at 1 o'clock on Friday afternoon in a Region 16 semifinal at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri.  NCMC advanced to the semifinal round with a 76-50 win over Wentworth Military Academy on Tuesday night at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton.

The win, NCMC's eighth of the season, is the third in head-to-head action for the Lady Pirates against Wentworth.  The Multi-Purpose Building at Ozark Christian will host the Division 1 and Division 2 tournaments for Missouri junior colleges (Region XVI) this weekend, with the North Central – St. Louis women's game (1 PM Friday) followed by a semifinal featuring #2 seed Penn Valley against #3 seed Cottey College at 3 o'clock on Friday.

The men's semifinals, matching the four Division 2 programs in the state of Missouri, will be played on Friday night in Joplin, with #1 seed St. Louis playing #4 seed Wentworth at 6 o'clock.  The #3 seeded NCMC Pirates battle #2 seed St. Louis on Friday night at 8.

The NJCAA Division Two, Region 16 championship games will be played on Saturday night (women at 6 PM, men at 8 PM) from Ozark Christian College in Joplin.
