North Central Missouri College Teacher Education students have been studying the history of American Education.

As part of their study, the students recently visited the Baker School located on the Grundy County Museum campus; Grundy County’s last remaining one-room school. Retired NCMC Professor Emeritus, Phil Schlarb, welcomed students and provided a short presentation on the operation of one-room schools, and the classroom experiences of students that attended Baker School.

“The students really enjoyed this opportunity,” said Cassie Cordray, NCMC Teacher Education Instructor. “Mr. Schlarb took students back in time and allowed them to experience the atmosphere of a one-room school. We are very fortunate to have this historic building within walking distance of our campus.”
