Grundy County Emergency Management Director Glen Briggs reports the National Weather Service will change the flood stage of the Thompson River near Trenton in about 30 days.

He explains the change was brought about by flooding on the river before it got to flood stage the last few times there has been heavy rain in the area.

He adds the new flood stage of 27 feet will more accurately reflect what is happening with the river, and there may be more flood warnings issued.

The current flood stage for the Thompson River is 30 feet.
