A 61-year-old Trenton man is dead following a motorcycle crash in Daviess County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Richard Moore was southbound on Highway 13 in Daviess County when his 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle went off the west side of the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned causing Moore to be ejected from the motorcycle.

Moore was transported to Harrison County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2 o’clock on Saturday afternoon.

Moore was wearing safety equipment, and the patrol was assisted at the scene of the crash by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.

Moore was a participant in the Grandma’s Motorcycle Ride which is held to raise money for the Trenton Fire Department. The accident near Coffey happened during the first part of the route, which started and was scheduled to end in Trenton.

More than 30 riders on about 25 motorcycles left Trenton to begin the Grandma’s Ride with other motorcyclists were expected to join the ride during the route. It was noted that several motorcyclists left the ride after the accident.

This was the fourth annual Grandma’s Ride with associated activities organized by Cissy Wilcoxsin. The event began in 2016 in memory of four children who died in a house fire in Trenton in May of 2015.
