The Grundy County Health Department of Trenton reports more than 250 flu shots were given to participants and volunteers at its drive-thru flu shot clinic in Trenton on Wednesday.

Emergency Response Planner for the health department Kelli Hillerman reports the numbers were down from the previous drive-thru clinic in 2013. However, she says it was a great way to mobilize volunteers and test the health department’s mass dispensing plan.

More than 100 volunteers helped with the flu shot clinic with sixty-six of those volunteers from North Central Missouri College nursing students and instructors.

Flu vaccines are still available at the Grundy County Health Department with clinics scheduled to include families with preschool and school-aged children. Clinics are set for October 25th from 2 o’clock in the afternoon to 6 o’clock in the evening as well as October 29th from 2 to 5:30 which are open to all ages.

The health department asks individuals receiving flu shots to bring their Medicaid, Medicare, or health insurance cards for billing purposes. Donations are requested from individuals not covered by insurance.

Call the health department at 660-359-4196 for more information about the flu vaccines.
