MFA Oil Company announced it bought a Moberly-based fuel supplier on Monday.

Brownfield Oil Company was founded in Moberly in 1971 and has since supplied refined fuel and lubricants to middle and northern Missouri gas stations and fuel facilities.

MFA Oil’s purchase includes a Sinclair gas station in Shelbina and a Sinclair fueling facility in Kirksville.

“Brownfield Oil serves an area where MFA Oil has a large market presence, making it a natural fit. It brings a significant amount of fuel volume to the company and will allow us to improve our operational efficiency,” said Don Smith, MFA Oil’s director of mergers and acquisitions.

Under the purchase, Brownfield Oil will continue to operate its transportation services business and retain some staff. The remaining employees will join MFA Oil.

“I would like to thank all my customers for their business and loyalty through the years. This decision would not have been made unless I was confident MFA Oil would take excellent care of them moving forward,” said Matt Brownfield, president of Brownfield Oil.

MFA Oil’s fiscal year began Sept. 1, 2015 and since then, the company has acquired four other oil companies including two in Kansas, one in Arkansas and one in Oklahoma.
