Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway today released two audit reports of the State Treasurer’s Office. A closeout audit was completed to assist in the transition for the newly appointed treasurer. The State Treasurer’s Office is also audited annually, in accordance with state law. As with audits of the office issued since 2016, the reports had no findings.

The State Auditor’s Office performs closeout audits of statewide offices to assist in transitions and ensure that newly elected officials are aware of areas for improvement. Scott Fitzpatrick was appointed as State Treasurer and was sworn in on January 14, 2019.

The annual report includes a summary of the office’s operating financial activity, cash and investment balances, and investment income. The Missouri Constitution establishes the State Treasurer as custodian of all state funds and funds received from the U.S. government.

That report includes the following financial information:

Statement of Receipts, Disbursements, and Changes in Cash and Investments

Comparative Statement of Appropriations and Expenditures

Comparative Statement of Expenditures (From Appropriations)

Comparative Statement of Funds in Custody of State Treasurer

Comparative Statement of Interest Received on Pooled Investments

The complete annual audit report can be found here and the complete closeout report can be found here. Both received an overall performance rating of excellent.
