With a “Salute to Education” as the theme, the Spirit of Missouri award the $200 top prize went to the Pleasant View R-6 School during the Missouri Day Festival parade.

Second place in the Spirit of Missouri judging and $100 went to an entry from Farmer’s Bank of Northern Missouri. The Pleasant View R-6 school and Farmer’s Bank of Northern Missouri took first place among organization and business entries respectively. Each won $100.

First place winners and $100 dollars were announced in other categories including Liberty Baptist Church of Trenton for best religious entry and Rissler Elementary School for best youth entry.

Winning $50 each for other first-place finishes included Adam McClure with a 1931 Packard for best car or truck pre-1960; Greg Freeman with best car or truck post-1960; the North Missouri Saddle Club of Trenton for best equestrian entry; and the Grand River Cub Club of the Trenton area for the best tractor entry which featured Farmall Tractors built from 1948 into the 1970’s.

Members of the Trenton Rotary Club coordinated the Missouri Day Festival parade and handled the judging. There were more than 70 parade entries and 30 high school bands that marched in the parade.

Twenty-nine of the bands were judged separately from the regular parade entries. The lead band in the parade, Trenton High School, participated in exhibition.
