Missouri authorities find body near submerged vehicle south of St. Joseph

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) – Authorities say a body has been found near a submerged vehicle just south of St. Joseph.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a news release that the discovery was made Tuesday night after the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of the submerged vehicle. No occupants were located when the vehicle was removed from the water. The body was found during a subsequent search of the waters in the area.

The body was identified only as that of a white male.

The patrol says its Division of Drug and Crime Control will lead the investigation. No other information was immediately available.
