The Grundy County Local Emergency Planning Committee plans for hazardous materials incidents.

Grundy County Emergency Management Director Glen Briggs says those include agriculture, transportation, rail, and pipeline incidents. The LEPC also provides funding for training. Thirteen individuals are required by law to attend LEPC meetings.

Those include representatives of the police, fire, hospital, public health, utilities, and core responders in the community.

Grundy County has an Emergency Response Trailer, which Briggs says has a collection of emergency response equipment inside that can be used to help manage a hazardous materials spill or large incident if there was one.

LEPC members can also use ham radios if cell phone services were to go down.
