A Mercer resident was injured when the pickup he was driving crashed in northern Putnam County.
Fifty-seven-year-old Jess Gomez was taken by private vehicle to the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa with moderate injuries.
Gomez was southbound on Highway 139 when he allegedly failed to halt for a stop sign, drove through the intersection, traveled off the roadway and struck an embankment. The pickup then traveled through a fence before coming to a stop in a field.
Vehicle damage was moderate and the patrol report stated it was unknown whether he was using a safety device.
