Interested individuals can still sign up to participate in the Green Hills Women’s Shelter’s Mean Bean Bag Tournament at Black Silo Winery in Trenton Saturday, June 17.

Registration will begin at 12:30, and games will start at 2 o’clock with sign-ups to be taken until 1:30.

Shelter volunteer Barbara Spencer says each two-person team costs $30 and teams can win $200 for first place, $150 for second, and $100 for third.

Spencer notes that prior experience is not necessary and bean bags and boards will be provided thanks to sponsors. There will also be a concession stand with barbecued pulled pork and cookies.

Spencer explains that the goal of bean bag toss is to throw the bean bag into the hole on the board or knock off a bean bag of an opponent.

Rex Ross with the Trenton Police Department as well as Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits in Trenton sponsor the event.

Contact Ross or Wine and Spirits for more information on how to sign up.

All of the proceeds from the tournament will go to the Green Hills Women’s Shelter.
