A jury at St. Louis has convicted a Meadville woman of poisoning her son who was only nine years old at the time of the incident in 2014.

36-year-old Rachel Kinsella, with an address on Beech Road of Meadville, was found guilty at the conclusion yesterday of a trial held in St. Louis County Circuit Court. The St. Louis charges stemmed from three years ago when doctors at a hospital became concerned a child was suffering from overdoses of prescription medications not prescribed for him.

Ms. Kinsella was charged with assault in the first degree and endangering the welfare of a child. Officials say the child is living with grandparents.

With the guilty conviction, a pre-sentence investigation has been requested. Sentencing is scheduled May 26th in St. Louis County.

Ms. Kinsella was remanded to the custody of the St. Louis County Department of Justice. Ten days will be allowed for her attorney’s to file a motion requesting a retrial.
