An Adair County jury has convicted a Meadville man on felony charges of child enticement.

Two days of testimony were held this week at the Courthouse in Kirksville resulting in 68-year-old Ronald Gene Nickell of Meadville being found guilty of felony attempted enticement of a minor stemming from an undercover investigation led by the Kirksville Regional Computer Crimes Unit.

The investigation led to Nickell’s arrest July 9th of 2014 in Kirksville where he had gone to allegedly have sexual relations with an online persona whom he believed to have been a 13-year-old girl.

Sources say Nickell faces a minimum of five years in prison before being eligible for parole; up to a maximum of 30 years in prison. Sentencing before Circuit Court Judge Russell Steele is scheduled August 15th.
