Matthew Woody arrested by Trenton Police Department on multiple felony charges

The Trenton Police Department arrested a Trenton man Saturday on multiple felony charges.

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office reports 26-year-old Matthew John Woody has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon, exhibiting, unlawful use of a weapon, handling while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, third-degree assault: special victim, attempted escape from confinement, and resisting arrest.

Bond was set at $50,000 cash only, and he is scheduled for the Associate Division of circuit court April 10th.

Court documents accuse Woody of exhibiting a Marlin 30-30 rifle, a weapon readily capable of lethal use, in the presence of one or more persons in an angry manner and handling the firearm in a negligent manner while intoxicated.

Court information also accuses Woody of possessing methamphetamine, causing physical injury to Detention Officer Richard Ramsey by pushing him down causing his wrist to break, attempting to escape from custody, and resisting arrest by failing to comply with multiple orders.
