The Livingston County Health Center will offer Hepatitis C testing this month for a fee of $20.00.

Testing will take place at the Health Center by appointment March 14 and 21 and will also be done through Adult Blood Draw Clinics for walk-ins the morning of March 29 from 7 to 10 o’clock.

Public Information Supervisor Ann Burchett explains that Hepatitis C is a liver disease resulting from infection with the Hepatitis C virus. She says that chronic Hepatitis C can lead to liver damage, liver failure, and liver cancer and added that most people with the disease do not know they are infected.

Burchett says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends Hepatitis C testing for everyone born from 1945 to 1965.

Call the Livingston County Health Center at 660-646-5506 to schedule an appointment.
