Livingston County authorities arrest Hale man on drug charges

Last Friday, Livingston County Deputy Woelfle received a call of a careless and imprudent driver in Caldwell County with the vehicle heading into Livingston County.

The deputy stopped the vehicle for alleged additional careless and imprudent driving and was assisted by a second deputy and a state trooper.

Due to circumstances at the stop, a request was made for Deputy Mueller and K-9 Zaki to check the vehicle for drugs. Zaki gave a positive indication of drugs being present and a subsequent search resulted in the seizure of an estimated more than 7 grams of methamphetamine, scales, and other drug paraphernalia.

Officers arrested Gerald Lyle Ratcliffe, age 55, of Hale for the alleged drug and drug paraphernalia violations. Ratcliffe was also reportedly armed with multiple throwing knives.

Ratcliffe was then transported to the Daviess Dekalb County Regional Jail.

An arrest warrant was issued the following day on alleged class C felony of possession of controlled substance-methamphetamine and bond was set at $35,000 cash.

Ratcliffe is currently on probation/parole for a felony drug convictions.
