It’s election day as voters decide the outcome of races for local offices as well as a host of issues. Polling sites are open until 7 o’clock tonight.

On our news yesterday, we highlighted many of the ballot issues proposed by local and area cities, school districts, and counties.

There are ten names printed on ballots to fill four Trenton City Council seats.

There are races in three of the wards: second, third, and fourth. Each ward had three candidates file for a city council position. There are four names on the ballot for two open seats on the Trenton R-9 Board of Education. Three names are on the ballot for two positions on the Grundy County Nursing Home District board of directors which oversees Sunnyview Nursing Home and Apartments.

Some entities do not have an election today because of a state law allowing them to forgo an election if the number of candidates filed equals the number of positions to be filled.

At least 90 absentee ballots were cast in Grundy County in advance of today’s election. That included seven yesterday at the county clerks’ office.

Another 17 ballots remain out and have not been voted and returned.

KTTN-FM will have periodic election coverage during music programming this evening beginning after the 7 o’clock AP news.
