Linn County Youth Fair starts July 11 in Brookfield

The Linn County Youth Fair is set to kick off next week, bringing a variety of activities to the Linn County Fairgrounds in Brookfield from July 11 through July 20.

The fair will open on July 11 with a trap shoot and skeet event at Pin Oak. The excitement will continue on July 12 with competitions in air pistol, small bore pistol, muzzleloading, and small bore three positions.

Archery enthusiasts, air rifle marksmen, and those interested in hunting and outdoor skills will have their chance to shine on July 13.

Sporting clays will take center stage at Pin Oak on July 14, followed by exhibit judging at the fairgrounds from 5 to 8 p.m.

July 15 promises a diverse lineup, including a dog show, fashion review, and small-bore rifle silhouettes.

On July 16, attendees can enjoy a rabbit show and a tractor rodeo at 4 p.m., followed by a 75th-anniversary ice cream social at 5 p.m. The fair royalty ceremony is set for 7 p.m., along with shooting sports awards.

Poultry and horse shows will be featured on July 17, alongside a task program starting at 3 p.m. The evening will include a fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. and a rooster crowing contest at 6 p.m.

July 18 will focus on a bucket calf test, a livestock judging clinic, and a beef fitting contest. A special dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m., with FFA and 4-H special awards presented. The Youth Super Farmer Contest will take place at 7 p.m., followed by a youth exhibitor dance from 9 to 11 p.m.

The Farm Bureau breakfast will be held on July 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m., followed by swine, dairy cattle, dairy goat, meat goat, and sheep shows. The Linn County Cattlemen will sponsor a steak supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Additionally, a pool party is planned for 4-H and FFA exhibitors and their families at the Brookfield Aquatic Center.

The final day of the fair, July 20, will feature bucket calf and beef shows. A buyer appreciation supper is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m., with special awards presented. The event will conclude with a silent auction from 6 to 7 p.m. and a premium sale starting at 7 p.m.
