Richmond High School's Trevon Alexander, fouled with six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, hit two free throws in a one-and-bonus situation, giving the 5th-seeded Spartans a 46-45 victory over the Trenton Bulldogs on Tuesday night, in a Class 3, District 15 boy's quarterfinal from Lawson High School, broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7.

Trenton had a chance to win the game on the final possession, but a charge call underneath the basket just before the final buzzer ended the Bulldogs hopes of a trip to the semifinal round.  Noah Thornberry paced Richmond (15-11) with 25 points, while Alexander had 10.  For Trenton (13-11), Connor Cotton ended his junior season with an outstanding 15 point effort.  Senior Cree Mullenix, slowed by a sprained ankle in the fourth quarter, had nine points for THS.  Kail McCarter, in his final game as a Bulldog, had eight points.

Richmond will play Chillicothe in a boy's semifinal at Lawson, Thursday night at 6 o'clock.  Chillicothe advanced with a 65-32 win over Carrollton.  The Hornets are the #1 seed in Class 3, District 15.

The bottom half of the boy's bracket will feature an outstanding semifinal matchup, with a strong Higginsville squad out of the Missouri River Valley Conference taking on the host Lawson Cardinals on Thursday night at 7:30.

Higginsville beat the Brookfield Bulldogs on Tuesday night, 78-51, while Lawson used a 24-8 advantage in the third quarter to run past Lexington, 65-34.
