The Laredo Fire Protection District responded to a combine fire Tuesday afternoon.

Kenneth Meeker with Laredo Fire reported three brush trucks and two pumpers arrived at the scene northwest of Laredo on Southeast 20th Street with crews using approximately 50 gallons of water to put out the fire.

Meeker noted a mechanic found a wire wrapped around a route bearing, which was determined to be the cause of the fire.

Jim Binney owned the combine, which received little to no damage.

Meeker added crews were on the scene for about two hours with no reported injuries.
