The Laredo Board of Alderman voted to raise water and sewer rates after reviewing sewer and water rate studies at its meeting last night.
The board voted to increase the month sewer base rate by $6, increase the monthly water base rate by $12.66, and decrease the water variable rate by $6.50.
The new monthly sewer base rate will be $30 for the minimum 1,000 gallons and $5 variable rate for each 1,000 gallons over the minimum.
This will combine the former base rate and one percent sewer maintenance fee.
The new monthly water base rate will be $48 for the minimum 1,000 gallons and $10.50 variable rate for each 1,000 gallons over the minimum.
This will combine the former base rate, water tower maintenance fee, one percent water maintenance fee, and primacy fee.
Charging for the fraction of gallons used for sewer and water rates will no longer be allowed.
The Laredo Board of Alderman also tabled a decision on revising a dog ordinance.
