Lake Viking Polar Plunge raises $11,000 for Special Olympics Missouri

Eleven thousand dollars was raised, and 44 individuals participated in the Lake Viking Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Missouri hosted by the Chillicothe Correctional Center.

North Area Development Director Melody Prawitz reports the highest fundraising individuals were Mike Lowe with 25 hundred dollars, Mark Parkhurst $1,050, and Catherine Jackson at $900.

The highest fundraising teams were Access 2 (II) with $520, Lake Viking Marine $375, and The Justice LEOs with $270.

The top schools were Chillicothe High School with about $1,534 ($1,533.83), Gallatin High School $500, and Cameron High School with $180.

For Gold Plunger Awards for individual costumes, first place went to Catherine Jackson as a martian, second place Elijah Henington as a NASA astronaut and third place to Emmett Young as a NASA astronaut.

For team costumes, first place went to Access 2 (II) as lady aliens, second place Chillicothe High School as green aliens and third place to the Justice LEOs and Trenton Police Department as tie-dyed.
