A pickup truck accident in La Plata on Friday afternoon, February 7, 2020, claimed the life of a La Plata man.
Seventy-two-year-old William Stites was transported to the Macon County Coroner’s Office.
Stites drove the pickup south on U. S. Highway 63 before it ran off the west side of the road, overcorrected, went off the east side, and overturned again. Stites was pronounced dead at the scene and the patrol report noted he did not wear a safety device.
The La Plata Police and Fire departments assisted as well as Macon County Ambulance, Sheriff’s Department, and Coroner.
