Kirksville man found guilty of murder and armed criminal action

A Kirksville man has been convicted of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Media outlets report an Adair County jury found Danny Welte guilty in the November 2016 death of his wife, Echo Welte. She was reportedly shot in the back of the head and died at the scene in the Kirksville Days Inn parking lot. The shooting took place after the funeral of the couple’s son and an argument with her husband.

Danny Welte’s sentencing is scheduled for May 4th. The murder conviction carries a sentence of 10 years to life in prison.
