A Kirksville man died after the all-terrain vehicle (2010 Polaris Sportsman) he was operating hit a pickup and overturned. The accident took place on Sunday, February 2. 2020 in eastern Putnam County, one mile to the east of Martinstown.
Fifty-four-year-old Clell Evans was pronounced dead at (2:10 pm) at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville more than an hour after the accident.
Evans, who was not using a safety device on the ATV, and a pickup driven by 58-year-old Murl Lusher of Green Castle were both eastbound on Putnam County Route W when the accident occurred. Lusher wasn’t hurt as he was using a seat belt.
Assistance was provided by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, Putnam County First Responders, and Putnam County Ambulance.
