Kansas City, Kansas man arrested on multiple allegations after crashing south of Cameron

A man from Kansas City, Kansas was injured in an early-morning crash four miles south of Cameron.

Forty-eight-year-old Dion Martin was northbound on Interstate 35 when he attempted to exit onto Highway 69. The van exited the interstate at a high rate of speed, failed to halt for a stop sign, and traveled through the guard rail off the north side of the highway. The vehicle then continued north where it struck an embankment and several trees. The van came to a stop upright on the north side of Highway 69.

Martin received minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to the Cameron Regional Medical Center.

It was unknown whether Martin was using a seat belt and the patrol report noted the van was totaled due to damages sustained in the wreck.

The Highway Patrol arrest report listed several allegations against Dion Martin who is accused of felony driving while intoxicated, felony driving while revoked, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident.

Martin also is accused of several misdemeanor violations issued in Kansas City. These include previous warrants for moving traffic violations, DWI, obstructing police, and two counts of marijuana possession. Martin was placed on a 24-hour hold with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.
