A man who has spoken on Purple Martins at various conferences and has a large number of Purple Martin houses on his farm outside of Jamesport will present a program for the Grand River Audubon Society.

The public is invited to attend Ivan Ray Miller’s program at the Mildred Litton Community Building at the Litton AgriScience Center Wednesday, May 8th at 7 o’clock. Social time will be held at 6:30 and refreshments will be served.

Miller has 80 to 100 mating pairs of Purple Martins that return to his Martin houses each year. He fledges and bands several hundred young birds each year, which is how he recognizes the birds that return.

Miller holds an open house at his farm each year to introduce the public to how Purple Martins nest, lay eggs and hatch their young. He also sells Purple Martin houses and supplies.
